“Who do you help?”
I've helped children, teens, and adults overcome anxiety by building a connection with their bodies. My goal is to provide the safety and guidance you or your child needs to discover creativity and inner resources.
More creativity = taking more risks,
a known component to counter anxiety, increase confidence and empower you to choose new pathways. My therapeutic approach is strength-based, client-centered, and flexible to fit the needs of each individual. I integrate dance/movement therapy techniques with other creative processes, mindfulness, and tools from cognitive behavioral therapy to help you reach your therapy goals.
I also speak Spanish and worked in community health for over 6 years where I cared for many Latinx community members. I understand the cultural importance of dance and the sense of connection dance brings for all communities. My clinical focus has been to address anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, and trauma. In particular, I specialize in treating anxiety because so many people struggle with it every day. Anxiety is felt in the body, so why wouldn’t we start with engaging the body in treatment?
“What’s your story?”
Since I was a kid, movement has helped me to express myself. I feel most at home in my body when I am dancing or moving, and it has also been a bridge for connecting with others. When I feel anxious, moving my body is something I always come back to, and I truly enjoy helping others to form their own connection to their bodies.
I'm always amazed by the joy I experience watching other people dance, whether it’s an over-the-top musical number on TV or my clients finding their own groove. In my private time, you'll find me out in nature with my dog, traveling, practicing yoga or dance, or singing a show tune. I am on a mission to see as many musicals as I can in my lifetime.
